"Futbol a la medida del Niño” or “Football designed for children”
It is considered as the fastest growing youth football development game in the world now. FUNiño is the only age-appropriate program designed to unlock creativity and game intelligence. It is an introductory module of the world famous “Youth Football Development Model” by Horst Wein (1941 – 2016), a University Lecturer and former German and Spanish Olympic Hockey Teams Coach. A youth coaching icon.
This curriculum was created to focus on teaching "game intelligence" in a playercentered, game-based environment. Meaning, fast analytical skills and creativity is developed in such a way that is enjoyable for children -- which Horst Wein believed was indeed better for developing young players than the recreation program.
Football, or some would call it soccer, is a game that requires alot of problem solving. How often they have to solve problems and how frequent a specific problem occurs would vary according to their position on the field.
Typical problems would be:
Should I pass or should I dribble?
When my teammate has the ball, what should I be doing?
When I have the ball, what are my options?
So how exactly does FUNiño help young football players?
Here are some of the benefits of using Horst Wein's youth football development model
Simplified Small-Sided Games (3v3, 5v5, 7v7, 8v8) - The child is the main focus in simplified games – everybody has more touches, passes, goal-scoring and defensive opportunities
Age-related learning for each stage of development - This model takes into account the psychological and emotional needs at different stages
Coaching Style – Guided discovery (more children, less coach) - The game itself is by far the best teacher. A good coach teaches nothing, he/she facilitates and guides the young players through a varied experience of games and corrective exercises.
Development vs Winning at all costs (no leagues under 12 yrs of age) - While young players are competitive by nature, and this is to be encouraged, the outer pressure from adults to win matches and leagues at a young age is mostly counterproductive.
Bonuses of using the Youth Football Development Model - Great young footballers, with more confidence, intelligence, imagination, creativity and skill are released into the larger football community, with many going on to appear on the biggest stages for all to enjoy the beautiful game.
The activities of the FUNiño model are also easy to understand, apply and absorb, because the rules are flexible and adaptable to existing conditions.
What Bright Academy can do for your child
Coach Patrick of Bright Academy believes in the benefits and positive impact of FUNiño. In fact, he is the only coach in Manila to ever apply this method to his students. Through his football coaching school, his students learn to love the game not because of drills or technical training, but because they are learning by having a great time.
Bright Academy also involves families in a friendly sharing environment where the children are allowed to be and feel like their true selves and experience the pure pleasure of playing for FUN. With the emphasis on "FUN", more children will fall in love with the game even from the earliest stages as young as 12 months old!
Football is the beautiful game. Bright Academy is here to make sure that street football will be revived. Join us in this journey where everybody wins! Ask us how.
